Aden: Child with rare disease heads to Jeddah for medical tests in hope of receiving “the life-saving injection”

The Aden Cooperative Charitable Hospital announced that Majd Tharwat Anbol, a one-year and eight-month-old child suffering from spinal muscular atrophy, has left the hospital today for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to undergo specialized medical tests to determine his body’s eligibility for the gene therapy injection Zolgensma, if it becomes available.
The hospital explained that hopes remain pinned on facilitating the child’s travel to Qatar, where there are greater chances of accessing the treatment.
Doctors have stressed that Majd must receive the injection before turning two years old, making time a decisive factor in saving his life.
