Child and Six Civilians Killed in Houthi Shelling of Al-Khokha District, Al Hudaydah Governorate
Six civilians, including a 13-year-old child, were killed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in missile shelling carried out by the Houthi group that targeted civilian areas and agricultural land in Al-Khokha District, Al Hudaydah Governorate, according to local sources cited by Baran Press.
The sources reported that the shelling targeted areas east of Al-Khokha city with two ballistic missiles, killing six civilians, including the 13-year-old child. Search and rescue teams continued their operations to determine whether there were additional casualties.
In a separate incident earlier on Tuesday, two sisters sustained serious injuries after shelling targeted their home in Hays District, southern Al Hudaydah Governorate.
The two incidents once again highlight the risks faced by children in conflict-affected areas, where children remain among those most vulnerable to death and injury as a result of attacks affecting residential areas and civilian property, posing a direct threat to their lives and safety.
