Al Bayda: Two Children Injured in Landmine Explosion While Herding Sheep

Two children were injured in Yemen's Al Bayda Governorate after a landmine left behind by the conflict exploded while they were herding sheep, marking the third such incident in the governorate in less than a month.

Local residents said the explosion amputated one of Khaled Jaabal Al-Jaafari's (16) legs and severely damaged the other, leaving him with a permanent disability. Salem Mohammed Al-Jaafari (17) sustained serious shrapnel wounds and injuries to various parts of his body.

Landmines and other explosive remnants of war continue to kill and injure civilians across several Yemeni governorates, with children among the most affected. The incident has renewed calls for accelerating mine clearance efforts and strengthening measures to protect civilians from their deadly impact.
