Announcing the first national strategy to promote the health of children and adolescents
Last Thursday, the Yemeni government launched the first national strategy to promote the health and well-being of children and young people.
This came during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Muhammad Bahibah, explained in his speech during the ceremony that “the strategy comes to enhance the health of children and adolescents, improve health care for them, and define their rights, which is the starting point for many goals and plans to contribute to raising the level of health awareness, education, nutrition, and access to the highest service.” “Healthy.”
Bahibah stressed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to working to implement the strategy, achieve its goals, and strengthen partnership and infrastructure in our country, calling for cooperation to support the strategy, achieve the common vision for children and youth, and ensure their future.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Care Sector, Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Walidi, explained that the strategy is the first for the Ministry of Health, and great efforts have been made to make it successful, on the part of the Ministry of Health cadres and the health sector donor partners.
For their part, the representative of the World Health Organization in our country, Dr. Otoro Besegan, and the director of the UNICEF Health Department, Dr. Kabir Hassan, affirmed the commitment of the two organizations to support the efforts of the Ministry of Health in the various health sectors, praising the success crowned with the announcement and signing of the strategy despite the difficult circumstances that the country is going through.
According to what the Ministry of Health published on its website, the strategy will be achieved by reducing morbidity and mortality rates, paying attention to children and young people with disabilities, and providing the main interventions for them. As well as children out of school, achieving disability prevention, emphasizing equality and social justice in quality health services, addressing the challenges facing health and adopting their determinants in accordance with national priorities.
It also aims to ensure and sustain political commitment and the commitment of partners towards the health of children and adolescents by adopting a unified national plan, institutionalizing it within the organizational structure of the Ministry of Health, and integrating it into government policies and strategies. To achieve comprehensive coverage of interventions, and ensure their implementation at various levels.
