Amran: Child Dies After Lightning Strike in Houth District

A child, the son of local resident Yusuf Yahya Samah Farea from Khiwan area in Houth District, Amran Governorate, died on Monday after being struck by a sudden lightning bolt during heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
According to media sources, the lightning struck the spot where the boy was standing outside his home shortly after noon, killing him instantly despite attempts by locals to rescue him and provide first aid.
Statistics indicate that since the beginning of August, more than ten children have lost their lives in various Yemeni governorates due to rain-related incidents and lightning strikes in separate tragic accidents.
Amran and several other governorates are currently witnessing a wave of heavy rainfall accompanied by continuous thunderstorms, which has caused both human and material losses. Experts have repeatedly warned of the dangers of staying in open areas during storms, urging precautionary measures—most notably disconnecting electrical devices and solar power systems to minimize risks.
