Eight People, Including Five Children, Injured in Accidental Shootings and Random Gunfire Incidents in Shabwah and Taiz
Police authorities in Shabwah Governorate reported five injuries on Monday resulting from accidental weapon misuse and random gunfire incidents. The incidents prompted security authorities to issue warnings to the public about the dangers of indiscriminate shooting and the spread of armed practices, emphasizing their threat to public safety, security, and stability.
In this context, police in the Cairo area of Bayhan District, Shabwah, recorded the injury of 9-year-old Omar Mohammed Abdulrabbo Al-Jaashani, who was struck in the back by a stray bullet fired during random shooting while he was playing near his family’s home.
In the Mafqah area of Bayhan District, 13-year-old Maher Jamal Owaidan was injured in the thumb of his left hand by a stray bullet resulting from random gunfire while riding in his father’s vehicle.
Meanwhile, 12-year-old Ismail Mubarak Mubarak Al-Hathouthi was admitted to Al-Dhafiyah Hospital in Bayhan after being shot in the thigh. Five-year-old Am Al-Khair Saleh Abdullah was also taken to the same hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest, with the bullet exiting through her back. Her condition was described as critical. Both cases were linked to incidents of random gunfire.
In a separate incident, a 29-year-old woman identified by the initials T.M.N. was shot in the right side of her back in Tamrah area, Ain District.
Additionally, 14-year-old Akrah Mohammed Saleh Nasser was injured in an accidental shooting while handling a firearm in Al-Masina’ah area of Al-Saeed District. A bullet discharged from the weapon struck him in the thigh.
In a related development, police in Taiz Governorate reported two incidents involving weapon misuse and random gunfire.
According to police, 62-year-old Amin Mohammed Al-Rumaimah was struck in the back by a stray bullet resulting from indiscriminate shooting and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police in Bani Hammad area of Al-Mawasit District also reported that 25-year-old Mohammed Hussein Mohammed accidentally shot himself while cleaning an automatic rifle. The bullet struck his left thumb and left shoulder before exiting through his back. Authorities stated that the incident occurred as a result of negligence and failure to observe basic safety precautions while handling the weapon.
