Houthis Abduct Eight Children in Amran
Human rights activist Eshraq Al-Maqtari revealed that the Houthi group abducted eight children from Amran governorate, northern Yemen, after they celebrated the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution by lighting fires in joy over the national occasion.
In a post on Platform X, Al-Maqtari said the abduction took place on the night of September 26 in the Al-Ma‘radah area of Al-Ashsha district, where members of the group took the children to an undisclosed location.
She explained that the detained children are between 5 and 15 years old. They are: Sadiq Amin Abu Rakab, Younes Ali Sallah, Amin Sadiq Sallah, Mazen Ibrahim Ma‘far, Madeen Sadiq Ma‘far, Abdulrahim Ali Ma‘far, Omar Ahmed Mathna, and Suleiman Ma‘far.
Al-Maqtari called for the immediate release of the children, holding the Houthi group fully responsible for their safety and describing the incident as “a blatant violation of children’s rights and freedom of expression.”
The incident is part of a series of abuses committed against civilians in areas under Houthi control, according to local and international human rights reports.
