Girl Killed and Boy Injured While Tampering with War Remnants in Marib and Al-Dhale’e

A girl was killed in Marib Governorate and a boy was injured in Al-Dhale’e Governorate in two separate incidents involving children tampering with remnants of the war waged by the Houthi militia in recent days.

Security authorities in Marib Governorate reported that the girl, identified by her initials as (F. N. H. S.), died from severe injuries sustained when a projectile left over from the Houthi militia’s war exploded while she was tampering with it alongside a group of other children in Al-Wadi District on August 27.

The girl had been taken to hospital along with two children and a woman to receive medical treatment after they were injured by shrapnel from the explosion. She later died in the intensive care unit due to the severity of her injuries.

In a similar incident in Al-Dhale’e Governorate, 8-year-old boy (A. M. S. N.) was injured by shrapnel from a projectile in Al-Azariq District. He was taken to a hospital to receive the necessary medical care, while the relevant authorities launched procedures to investigate and address the incident.

The security authorities renewed their call to citizens to avoid approaching, touching, moving, or attempting to dismantle war remnants, and to keep children away from such objects immediately upon discovering them. Citizens are urged to report them to security authorities and relevant specialized agencies so that they can be handled safely by trained personnel.

The authorities stressed that some remnants may appear harmless on the surface but can still be capable of exploding and pose a serious threat to people’s lives.
