Public Prosecution Conducts Field Visit to Inspect Juvenile Care Home and Juvenile Police in Aden

Under directives from the Attorney General, the Head of the Women and Children’s Rights Division, Judge Mona Saleh Mohammed, accompanied by division members Judge Lubna Hassan and Judge Wafaa Al-Omari, carried out a field visit to inspect the conditions of the Juvenile Care Home (for both boys and girls). This visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the situation of juveniles, address challenges, and provide necessary needs in a manner that ensures the best interests of the child.

During the visit, the committee met with the Head of the Juvenile Prosecution, Judge Dina Ali Salem, as well as the director of the care home. The team reviewed the programs provided to juveniles and assessed their compliance with the provisions of Juvenile Law No. (26) of 1997.

The committee also held a meeting with the management of the care home and the Juvenile Prosecution, during which it emphasized the importance of designing and implementing rehabilitation programs based on clear, time-bound plans aimed at reforming juveniles and reintegrating them into society more effectively, thereby reducing the likelihood of reoffending.

The committee commended the level of care and attention provided to juveniles by the staff of the facility, considering it a positive indicator that contributes to improving their conditions and enhancing their rehabilitation prospects.

Following this, the committee conducted a visit to the Juvenile Police to verify the conditions of detained juveniles, ensure adherence to legal procedures governing their detention, and confirm that they are held in appropriate facilities in accordance with the law.

This field visit is part of the Public Prosecution’s broader efforts to strengthen oversight of care institutions and juvenile detention facilities, ensure the enforcement of the law, and safeguard the rights and best interests of children.
