Abrar Foundation in Lahj Launches Training Program to Build Capacity of Staff in Autism Care

The Abrar Charity Foundation for the Development of Children with Autism in Lahj launched a month-long training program today for its educational and administrative staff, aiming to strengthen their professional capacities and enhance their skills in supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

The program features a series of specialized workshops focusing on the latest methods and evidence-based approaches used in the assessment, education, and rehabilitation of children with autism, with the goal of improving the quality of services provided by the foundation.

Fatimah Nasser, a specialist and trainer at the foundation, explained that the program covers several key topics, including sensory integration and the Sensory Profile, early intervention using the Portage Program, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), speech and language therapy, comprehensive skills development, the Lovaas Program, behavior modification through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP).

She noted that the training aims to equip the foundation's staff with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills that will enhance their professional performance and improve their ability to support children with autism, helping to strengthen the children's behavioral, language, and developmental skills.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the foundation, Qasim Al-Hutaibi, affirmed that the organization is committed to continuously improving the competence of its staff through specialized training programs. He emphasized that these efforts are intended to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of children with autism, support their development, and promote their successful integration into society for a better quality of life.
