Two Children Killed, Four Others Injured in Vehicle Rollover in Taiz

Two children were killed and four other people injured on Monday in a vehicle rollover accident in the Yafrus area of Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz governorate in southwestern Yemen.

Local sources said a Toyota “Shas” pickup vehicle overturned while driving through a dangerous mountain curve on a steep road in the Yafrus area, causing the accident.

According to the sources, the accident resulted in the deaths of 9-year-old Ayman Mahyoub Noman Hassan and 8-year-old Shadi Mohammed Ali. Three other passengers, along with the driver, sustained varying injuries and were transferred to a medical center for treatment.

The sources added that the road where the accident occurred suffers from poor conditions and lack of maintenance, despite repeated calls by local residents for authorities to rehabilitate mountain roads in Jabal Habashi district in order to reduce recurring traffic accidents.
