Taiz: Child Injured by Houthi Sniper Fire in Al-Shaqb Area

Twelve-year-old Abdulkareem Abdullah was injured on Tuesday by sniper fire believed to be from a Houthi gunman in the city of Taiz.

According to the local human rights monitoring committee, the child, Abdulkareem Abdullah bin Abdullah Abduh, was struck by shrapnel in his eye as a result of direct gunfire from a Houthi sniper stationed on Al-Salihin hilltop. The incident occurred while the child was near his home in a residential neighborhood. He was immediately transferred to a city hospital for treatment.

The committee stated that this incident brings the total number of sniper attack victims in the Al-Shaqb area alone to 279 civilians—killed and wounded—since the beginning of the escalation.

This latest attack highlights the ongoing violations faced by civilians and underscores the urgent need to halt such assaults and ensure the protection of children and residents in conflict-affected areas.
