Rights Report Documents Horrific Violations Against Children

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has released a verified report revealing grave violations committed by the Houthi group against abducted children held in its prisons between January 1, 2018, and January 30, 2025.
According to the report, a total of 117 children were arbitrarily abducted and detained in Houthi-run prisons, with many subjected to horrific abuses during their detention.
The report documented the deaths of 12 children either under torture or shortly after their release due to the severe mistreatment and inhumane conditions they endured.
It also highlighted that 26 children sustained permanent physical and psychological disabilities as a result of torture. These included cases of full or partial paralysis, chronic illnesses, memory loss, as well as visual and hearing impairments—painting a grim picture of the scale of abuse suffered by children in detention.
