Shabwa: Body of child “Omar Al-Athmi” found hours after his older brother was recovered off Abyan coast

Local sources in Shabwa Governorate, northeastern Yemen, reported on Thursday, April 16, 2026, that the body of the child Omar Hussein Al-Athmi was found, just hours after the body of his older brother, Ishaq, was recovered, following their disappearance six days ago at sea.

According to the sources, Omar’s body was found off the coast of Ahwar District in Abyan Governorate, in the same area where his brother’s body had been recovered earlier that day.

Earlier on Thursday, local sources reported that fishermen had found the body of the young man Ishaq Omar Hussein Al-Athmi floating about 15 nautical miles off the coastal area of Hanath in Ahwar District, after he and his brother went missing for six days following a drowning incident off the coast of Shabwa.
