Sana’a | Two girls drown in rainwater pool

Two girls, Alaa Najeeb Abdu Musleh Al-Atmi (11), from the village of Hisab, and Wurood Ali Mohammed Shabeel (12), from the village of Al-Breika in Sana’a governorate, died after drowning in a pool of water formed by heavy rainfall. Their bodies were found two hours after they went missing.
According to statistics from the Children of Yemen Platform, the number of children who have died since the beginning of August due to floods and lightning strikes across several Yemeni governorates has risen to more than 32 deaths and 11 injuries, including drowning victims and others killed in rain-induced building collapses.
Local experts warn of increasing risks to children in rural and mountainous areas, urging intensified community awareness of the dangers of floods and water pools, along with urgent preventive measures to reduce casualties.
