Dr. Sami Al-Sharabi, Director of the Yemeni Swedish Hospital, stated in a press statement that the child, “Safiya,” arrived at the hospital in an extremely critical condition and was immediately admitted to the recovery room, noting that her condition required intensive care and close medical monitoring.

Al-Sharabi explained that the child’s father left the hospital and entrusted her to companions of other patients, pointing out that hospital regulations require the presence of a direct guardian — especially the mother — to follow up on the child’s condition during medical care. He also affirmed the hospital administration’s commitment to the findings of the official investigation committee, which is expected to announce its final report in the coming period.

In the same context, the Deputy Governor of Taiz for Health Affairs, Ilan Mohammed Abdulhaq, directed the formation of an expanded legal, technical, and medical investigation committee, including consultants in pediatrics and surgery, in addition to representatives from legal affairs and medical services, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
