Girl Survives Lightning Strike That Killed Her Mother in Raymah

A tragic incident occurred in Al-Maqtar village, Bani Waqid area, in Al-Jaafariya district of Raymah governorate, on Thursday afternoon, April 30, 2026. The event resulted in four children losing their mother due to a lightning strike, while a young girl sustained varying injuries.

According to local residents, the lightning struck directly the wife of citizen Jaafar Haider Al-Waqidi while she was in the area, causing her immediate death. Her daughter, who was with her at the time, was injured and transferred for medical treatment.

The incident also led to the death of several livestock. The village has since been engulfed in grief, particularly due to the impact on the children, who suddenly found themselves facing the loss of their mother following this sudden natural disaster.
