Marib: Two Children Killed, Two Others Injured in Accidental Gun Incidents Within a Day

Marib police reported the deaths of two children and the injuries of two others in three separate incidents caused by mishandling firearms over the past 24 hours, according to the Security Media Center at Yemen’s Ministry of Interior.
Police said a 13-year-old boy was killed in Al-Remilah area of Al-Wadi district after being shot in the head by another child, under the age of ten, who was playing with a gun. In the same area, a 15-year-old sustained two gunshot wounds to his legs while mishandling a firearm.
In the city of Marib, an 11-year-old child died after being shot in the head, while another 12-year-old was injured by shrapnel in the abdomen, after one of their peers recklessly played with a pistol in the Al-Rawdhah neighborhood.
The security statement confirmed that investigations are still ongoing, reiterating the call for parents to exercise greater supervision over their children and raise awareness about the dangers of carrying and using firearms. It stressed that curbing this recurring phenomenon requires joint efforts to protect children’s lives.
