Ibb: Houthi group re-arrests two children days after their release

The Houthi group in Ibb governorate, central Yemen, has re-arrested two children just days after releasing them, over their participation in celebrations marking the September Revolution anniversary.

According to local sources cited by al-Mashhad Online, Houthi gunmen abducted the two children, Osama Raddad al-Amari (14) and Mohammed Abdu Saad Jahzar (16), in al-Sadda district, east of the governorate. Their families had previously been forced to pay money and provide written commitments under strict conditions in exchange for their release.

Residents explained that the Houthi group had earlier detained a number of teenagers, all under the age of seventeen, after they gathered to take group photos while holding the national flag. They were later released following mediation efforts by local community leaders.

Locals added that the two boys were taken to a Houthi-run detention facility in al-Sadda district and are expected to be transferred to the group’s intelligence prison (Political Security) in the city of Ibb. Meanwhile, the Houthis continue to pursue other children who had been released earlier.
