Floods in Mocha Claim the Lives of Three Children and Deepen Risks Facing Children in Taiz

Three children have died and others remain missing after flash floods swept through rural areas of Mocha, west of Taiz governorate, following heavy rainfall since early morning.

Local sources reported that the floods struck Al-Najeeba area, sweeping children away and resulting in the deaths of three, while search efforts continue for missing individuals under difficult conditions and ongoing water flow.

The incident highlights the growing dangers facing children, who are among the most vulnerable during natural disasters—especially in areas lacking adequate protection measures and safe infrastructure.

The floods also cut off the main road linking Taiz and Mocha, as authorities warned of further risks, urging residents to exercise caution and avoid flood-prone areas to ensure their safety.
