Two Children Drown During Family Trip to Al-Mukalla Coast

Two children and their older brother from Marib Governorate tragically drowned on Thursday while swimming at the coast of Al-Mukalla city in Hadramout, during their visit to participate in the seasonal "Balda Festival."
According to exclusive sources for Thawra Net, the victims are sons of Sheikh Hamad Mohammed Al-Shubairi, and residents of Al-Wadi District in Marib. They were identified as:
Hussein Hamad Al-Shubairi (20 years old)
Suleiman Hamad Al-Shubairi (18 years old)
Sultan Hamad Al-Shubairi (10 years old)
The three brothers had traveled with their father to Al-Mukalla for a short vacation, but were caught by strong waves while swimming around 11 a.m.
Rescue teams managed to recover the body of the eldest brother, Hussein, while search efforts are still ongoing to retrieve the bodies of Suleiman and Sultan. However, rough sea conditions have hampered rescue operations.
The incident has left the family and the local community in deep shock and renewed calls for enhanced safety measures along coastal areas—especially for children.
