Taiz: Fatalities and Injuries, Including Children, in Grenade Explosion at Wedding

Five people were killed and around ten others injured — including several children in critical condition — after a hand grenade was thrown during a wedding celebration on Sunday evening in the village of Haqan al-Mashjab, located in al-Ma’afer District, southern Taiz Governorate.
According to a report received by the Yemen Children Platform, the explosion occurred amid the wedding festivities, sparking panic among guests and turning the joyful occasion into a tragic scene of bloodshed.
Taiz police confirmed in a statement that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the crime.
The incident highlights the growing dangers posed by the widespread availability of weapons and the lack of awareness about their risks — particularly in civilian gatherings that include women and children — underscoring the urgent need for action to curb such threats to public safety.
