Save the Children Condemns Killing of Two Children and Injuries of Others in Hajjah
Save the Children International has condemned the killing of two children and the injury of at least a third, among 38 civilians, in an attack that targeted a gathering of civilians while they were having their iftar meal in Hairan district of Hajjah governorate.
The organization’s Country Director in Yemen, Rishana Haniffa, expressed deep shock over the attack, stressing that targeting civilians—especially children—constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
No official party has been identified as responsible for the attack, while the Yemeni government has accused the Houthi group of carrying out the shelling, an allegation also referenced in reports by human rights organizations.
The organization emphasized the need to protect civilians and prevent such attacks from recurring, calling for an independent investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
