Two Children Killed and Three Others Injured in Houthi Shelling Targeting a Communal Iftar in Hajjah
Two children were killed and three others injured on Sunday evening after shelling carried out by the Houthi group targeted a gathering of civilians during a communal iftar in Haradh District, north of Hajjah Governorate in western Yemen.
Local sources reported that the shelling resulted in the death of Modah Akram Al-Shawish, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, and Abdulrahman Musab Al-Khamisi, a three-year-old boy, while they were present with their families at the iftar gathering.
The sources added that the attack also injured three other children: Tariq Adel Junaid (one year old), Asma Musab Al-Khamisi (one year old), and Naeem Obeid Qawas, who were transferred for medical treatment.
This shelling comes as part of a series of violations affecting civilians, including children, in border areas of Hajjah Governorate, amid rights groups’ warnings about the continued targeting of civilian gatherings and the serious threat it poses to the lives of children and families.
