Landmine Explosion Injures Girl While Collecting Firewood in Rural Taiz

A 13-year-old girl, Bada Bajash Ali Mohammed, was injured by a landmine explosion left over from the war in Al-Qahaf village, Al-Kadha district, west of Taiz governorate.

According to sources who spoke to Yemen W, the explosion occurred while the girl was out collecting firewood to help her family prepare food, resulting in shrapnel wounds to her face and hands.

The sources added that the landmine was one of many remnants planted by the Houthi group in western rural areas of Taiz over the past years, which continue to pose a serious threat to civilians — particularly women and children who go about their daily activities in those regions.
