Foiled Child Abduction Attempt Hours After Another Child Found Murdered in Ibb Governorate
Local residents and shepherds thwarted an attempt to abduct an 11-year-old boy on Saturday in Hazm Al-Udain District, west of Ibb Governorate, only hours after the body of another child was discovered following a two-week disappearance. The two incidents have sparked widespread fear and concern among local communities.
According to local sources, the boy, identified as Mohammed Ahmed, was attacked by two masked men while on his way to buy school notebooks in the Al-Mawassatah area of Bani Wael. The assailants reportedly struck him on the back of the head until he lost consciousness before carrying him toward the Al-Masni area in an apparent attempt to abduct him.
The sources added that the child regained consciousness while being transported and began screaming for help. His cries were heard by nearby shepherds, who immediately intervened and rescued him, forcing the abductors to flee the scene and leave the child behind.
The incident occurred just hours after the body of Awad Abdu Hassan Al-Hakami, a four-year-old boy, was found murdered following nearly two weeks of disappearance from the village of Huwayt in Al-Ahkoum sub-district, within the same district.
Human rights advocates have warned of the growing threats facing children in several areas, stressing that the repeated cases of child disappearances and attacks underscore the urgent need for thorough investigations and effective measures to protect children and hold those responsible for such crimes accountable.
