Escalating Health Crisis Threatens 2.2 Million Children in Yemen

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis, stating that more than half of the country’s population will require urgent humanitarian assistance this year amid rapidly deteriorating living conditions and expanding hunger.

In a post published on its official Facebook page, the agency reported that approximately 2.2 million children under the age of five are suffering from acute malnutrition, describing the situation as a direct threat to their lives and evidence of a crisis that has gone beyond statistics.

UNHCR stressed that the humanitarian situation in Yemen is deteriorating day by day, urging the international community to take immediate action to meet growing needs. It emphasized that the country “cannot afford to wait,” particularly as funding continues to decline and the humanitarian gap widens.
