Child Killed and Seven Injured in Sanaa Explosion

The village of Al-Dajaj in Al-Hasbah district, north of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, witnessed a tragic incident that claimed the life of a child, Imad Ahmed Mutahar Al-Ra’i, and left seven others wounded with varying degrees of injuries.

According to media sources, a man identified by his initials A.M.S. threw several grenades in front of his house near the textile factory, resulting in the immediate death of the child Imad Al-Ra’i. The blast also critically injured Mohammed Abdullah Sanhoob in the head, while two children from the Al-Raymi and Al-Quba families sustained serious injuries. In addition, Issam Ahmed Masoud, Mohammed Ismail Al-Ra’i, Dr. Khaled Kareem, and Mohammed Yahya Al-Ezi were among the injured.

The same sources stated that the perpetrator had no disputes with the residents of the village, who were known for their kindness toward him. They pointed out that the victim’s family, the Al-Ra’i family, had been among the most generous and supportive to him, only to be devastated by the loss of their young son at his hands.

The sources suggested that the crime may have been driven by the suspect’s prolonged qat chewing without sleep, in addition to the harsh living conditions and extreme poverty he faced.
