Brutal Assault on Child in Sana'a After Returning Lost Car Key

A young boy, Diyaa Al-Amari, was violently assaulted in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, after he found a car key lying on the street and attempted to return it to its rightful owner out of honesty and goodwill.
According to eyewitnesses, the child asked the man—who claimed to be the owner of the key—to describe it for verification. Instead of responding with gratitude, the man launched into a brutal physical and verbal attack on the boy, in broad daylight and in full view of passersby.
The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media, with activists calling for an urgent and thorough investigation and demanding that the perpetrator be held accountable. Many also urged authorities to take stronger measures to protect children and to restore dignity to Diyaa.
Human rights organizations told Yemen Children Platform that they have documented the case and are closely following the investigation to ensure justice is served.
