Judge Imran Jazam: Violations Committed Against Children Are War Crimes That Cannot Be Tolerated
Judge and legal researcher Imran Jazam affirmed that the six grave violations committed against children in the context of armed conflicts are legally classified as war crimes, not merely incidental abuses or minor violations, calling for firm and uncompromising action in addressing them.
This was stated during a working paper he presented at a workshop organized by the Rasd Coalition in the temporary capital, Aden, where he emphasized that achieving justice for children begins with the accurate legal characterization of these violations in accordance with international law.
Jazam noted that protecting children in conflict-affected areas requires a clear roadmap to confront violations, ensure accountability for those responsible, end impunity, and safeguard children’s rights.
