Abyan: Child Dies While Reenacting Scene from Turkish TV Series

A 12-year-old boy died in the Al-Wadi’a district of Abyan governorate, southern Yemen, after hanging himself while attempting to imitate a suicide scene he had watched in a Turkish television series — a tragic incident that has sparked widespread sorrow in the area.

According to media sources, the boy, Haroun Mohammed Saleh Al-Naqi, was playing alone near his home when he tried to reenact a scene from the series, unaware of the danger involved. The rope reportedly tightened around his neck, leading to his instant death.

The sources added that the child had been following the series with great interest in recent days and that the distressing scene appeared to have left a strong psychological impact on him, prompting him to imitate it without realizing the consequences.

Relatives of the child called on the relevant authorities to monitor media content directed at children and to limit the broadcast of violent or harmful scenes, in order to protect young viewers from negative influences.
