Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Discusses Strengthening Protection Programs and Expanding Interventions with Save the Children
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, His Excellency Mukhtar Al-Yafei, met today at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital Aden with Save the Children to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordinate efforts in the field of child protection, contributing to improving the conditions of children and expanding the scope of programs across the country’s governorates.
Minister Al-Yafei affirmed that child protection is a top priority for the Ministry’s work, praising the organization’s efforts in implementing case management, psychosocial support programs, and strengthening a safe environment for children. He stressed the importance of equitable distribution of project areas and ensuring their alignment with actual needs on the ground.
The Minister further noted that partnerships with international organizations represent a key pillar in strengthening the effectiveness of interventions. He emphasized the need to shift support from emergency response to sustainable development in order to achieve long-term impact, highlighting the importance of aligning the organization’s activities with the Ministry’s overall plan and strategic direction. He also noted that all observations raised by partners are taken seriously by the Ministry and are incorporated into development plans.
For her part, the Country Director of the organization in Yemen, Ms. Richana Hanifa, reviewed the organization’s key interventions, particularly in child protection, psychosocial support programs, and education-related interventions. She affirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding cooperation and implementing quality projects that contribute to a more sustainable humanitarian response to needs.
The meeting was attended by the organization’s Head of Government Relations and Support Services, Ammar Faris, and Head of Program Operations, Mohamed Momen.
